Medical Electronics is a specialized discipline, which integrates engineering with Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Practice. Medical Electronics engineers develop imaging devices such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and procedures that solve medical and health-related problems such as automating insulin injections or controlling body functions. This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine. The discipline is a combination of design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences in order to develop healthcare treatment, which includes diagnosis, monitoring, treatment and therapy. Increasing demand for improved medical devices and systems is promoting research in various fields such as Biomechanics, Medical Imaging, Bio Signal Processing and Biosensors. Career options for medical engineers include working in research labs, hospitals for medical equipment maintenance and developing medical software.

After completing BE or B.Tech in Medical Electronics, you can opt for ME or M.Tech, followed by research.
