About course
Agricultural and irrigation engineering is a branch of engineering which aims to delve into the agricultural development. Agriculture and irrigation are inter-dependent. Agriculture is about farming of crops and the livelihood of the majority of population in India. The sub branches of Agriculture Engineering include animal biology, plant biology, mechanical, civil, electrical and chemical engineering principles. Agriculture engineering deals with the various technologies that are incorporated in the agriculture process in order to increase the productivity. Irrigation is the process of watering agricultural land and crops in order to enhance the growth of the crop. Irrigation process also deals with protecting plant against frost, suppressing weed growth, dust suppression, disposal of sewage and preventing soil consolidation. Agricultural and Irrigation Engineering is studying about the technology and methods behind augmenting the growth of crop.

Core subjects 
– The core subjects include Principles of Crop Production, Soil Science and Engineering, Hydrology and Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Irrigation Engineering, Groundwater and Well Engineering, Agricultural Economics and Farm Management, Watershed Development, Seed Technology Application, Post Harvesting Technology among others.
