Thapar University, formerly Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, was founded in 1956 by Karam Chand Thapar. The university is situated in Patiala, Punjab. It is among top ranked engineering college of India - ranked best in Punjab and in top 20 at the All India level. It is the first college of Punjab that started admitting students exclusively through All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). Thapar University Exam Eligibility 2013




A candidate shall be eligible for admission in the UG programmes subject to the following conditions:
The candidate
  1. has passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of three subjects, namely, Physics, Mathematics and any one subject out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Computer Science.
  2. has appeared in JEE (Main)-2013.
  3. possesses a good moral character.
  4. is a citizen of India.
  5. is born on or after October 1, 1988 (5 years relaxation in age for SC/ST/PH candidates).
The admission shall be made on the basis of merit of score in JEE (Main)-2013 and normalised score in Class 12th or other qualifying exam as declared by CBSE (60% & 40% weightage respectively).

Note: The top two toppers of the recognized Boards of India in the exams held in 2013, shall be given direct admission to the first year of UG program i.e the entrance test score of such students shall not be required for admission. They shall be allocated branch of their choice. Such candidates shall have to furnish proof of being toppers from their respective boards. Tuition fee shall also be waived off for such students provided they maintain minimum CGPA of 8.50 in subsequent semesters.

Thapar University Seats Reservation 2013




Punjab State Seats: 50% of the seats, i.e., 488 are reserved for candidates who have passed qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located in the state of Punjab. The Children of employees of Punjab Govt. posted/deputed outside Punjab will be eligible for admission against these seats irrespective of the location of School/College from where they pass their qualifying examination provided further that these candidates should have passed their qualifying examination (10+2) or its equivalent during such posting/deputation of the parent(s) outside Punjab. Candidates seeking admission under this category are required to submit a certificate as per format alongwith the application form.

Seats for Sports Persons from Punjab: 2% seats (10) are reserved for outstanding sports persons possessing sports gradation certificates A, B or C issued by the Director of Sports, Punjab. Candidates in the following sports disciplines will only be considered for admission for these seats.

(ii) The Constitution of sports committee for the purpose of making sports merit is as under:

Outside Punjab State Seats: 50% of the seats, i.e., 487 are reserved for candidates who have passed
qualifying examination from School/College/Institute located outside the state of Punjab.

Over And Above Seats :
(a) Punjab Government Seats: 2% seats (20) are reserved for the candidates nominated by Punjab
     Government. These seats shall be filled up subject to the policy of the Punjab Government regarding
     nominations amended from time to time. The candidates for these seats are required to appear in the
     entrance test as specified by Punjab Government. The candidates for this category should contact
     the office of Director, Technical Education & Industrial Training (Government of Punjab),     Plot No 1,  Sector 36-A, Chandigarh.
(b) Seats reserved for beneficiary States: MHRD, GOI, is having a continuous cheme of reservation of
     seats in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/Pharmacy courses conducted at degree and diploma
     level technical institutions approved by AICTE, for states and UTs which do not have Engineering
     colleges, Polytechnics or lack facilities for education in specific fields of technical education and for
     certain categories including foreign students.The nomination of the students is made by the State       Governments concerned on the basis of their own criteria like entrance test etc. MHRD has no discretionary powers to nominate any students to any specific course or college and the actual admission of the student.
Ten (10) seats (One in each discipline) are reserved under this scheme of reservation of seats of MHRD, GOI.
(c) Jammu & Kashmir Migrants :One seat is reserved for the Jammu & Kashmir Migrants. The admission & discipline of seat under this category will be decided by the Director, Technical Education Punjab.
Candidates desirous of seeking admission as Kashmiri Migrants may contact the office of Director 
Technical Education & Industrial Training (Government of Punjab), Plot No 1, Sector 36-A, Chandigarh.

Note: Candidates nominated under the categories at S. No. 3.3(a), 3.3(b) and 3.3 (c) must register
prior to the last date of registration as mentioned in the Academic Calendar. No late applications shall
be entertained. Branch mentioned in the nomination must conform to one of the existing branches as
per Table – II of the University; else the nomination shall be void. In caseUniversity receives multiple nominations for any branch, only the first received nomination shall be accepted for that branch.

Children of Thapar University Employees : 1% over and above seats are reserved for children of employees of Thapar University. The candidates seeking admission under this category are required to satisfy the eligibility critera.




Thapar University Admission Process 2013




  1. Only those candidates shall be considered who shall apply on the prescribed application form on or before the last date.
  2. Admission shall be made on the merit of the normalized score(60%-40%) of JEE (Main)-2013 as declared by CBSE in July 2013.
  3. Candidate is required to pay tuition fee and other dues at the time of admission.
  4. There will be only one counselling.
  5. Candidate leaving after taking admission shall be refunded Caution Money and alumni fee only.
  6. The number of seats available for admission shall be available on our website www.thapar.edu w.e.f. October 15, 2013. 15% seats shall be reserved for SC, 7.5% seats for ST category and 3% for physically handicapped category. In case, any seat in reserved category remains vacant, the same shall be converted to the General Category.
  7. Candidate should bring all the documents in original at the time of Counselling.
  8. In case, a student of first year of Thapar University gets a seat under this scheme then the seat vacated by such candidate shall be offered to other candidates in the merit list.

Thapar University Application Form 2013




  1. Candidates seeking admission in TU shall fill up the online form available on our website www.thapar.edu. Kindly fill the complete details and then take two print outs of the form and paste a recent passport size colored photograph. Application fee paid Online: Send one of the printouts of form. Application fee paid through DD: Send one of the printouts by attaching the required amount of DD (in favour of Thapar University and payable at Patiala). Retain second copy of the printout of the form to be produced at the time of document checking of original documents during counseling. Important Note : A candidate cannot claim admission merely by filling the application form and paying the application fee. If he/she fulfils the eligibility criteria as per the prospectus, only then he/she shall be considered for admission during counseling. So, candidates are advised to read eligibility and other conditions before filling the form.
  2. The original certificates and set of attested copies of the certificates are required to be produced at the time of document checking.
  3. Every candidate must indicate in his/her application the category of seat for which he/she wants to apply. A copy of the certificate of the reserved category (if applicable) shall be attached.
  4. Application completed in all respects should reach the Incharge Admission Cell, Thapar University, Patiala -147004, on or before the last prescribed date of the respective programmes.
  5. Incomplete application in any manner and received after the due date/time will be rejected. The University does not take any responsibility for postal delay or loss in transit of the application form, demand draft, withdrawal form or any other communication in this regard.
  6. The specimens of the format of the required certificates are available on our website for the guidance of candidates. Each certificate must be submitted on the prescribed format and must be issued by the competent authority as mentioned, under proper seal/stamp of their office on a date prior to or on the last date for submission of application form.
  7. If at any stage it is found that a candidate has concealed, suppressed or distorted any informaton/fact, in the application form, his/her admission to the University, if granted, shall stand cancelled. He/she will have no claim, whatsoever, against the University.
  8. The provisions of Prospectus 2013-14 may be changed by the competent authority without any notice.
  9. In case of any dispute, the decision of the Director, TU, Patiala shall be final and binding on the candidates.
  10. For BE/BTech (on the basis of JEE (Main)-2013) - Candidates due to appear in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will be placed provisionally in the merit list. They will not be considered for admission if they fail to submit proof of passing the qualifying examination at the time of counselling.

MT-CET 2013 Examination




The examination will be conducted at various centers in Maharashtra on 16th May, 2013



MT CET 2013




Government of Maharashtra has decided to conduct a Common Entrance Test for selection to all degree courses in Engineering/Technology and Pharmacy courses. The Competent Authority for the ‘MT-CET 2013’ is Director of Technical Education, Mumbai.
The application form for MT-CET 2013 is common for all the above said courses. However, the information brochures for Engineering/Technology courses and Pharmacy course are separate. The results of MT-CET 2013 will be made available at the website of Directorate of Technical Education (http://www.dte.org.in/mtcet2013).
The Government of Maharashtra has opted to join the National Level JEE from the academic year 2014-15. The admissions to the First Year of Engineering/Technology will be carried out on the basis National Level Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) from the academic year 2014-15. Please refer the Government Resolution for detail information.

MT CET Eligibility 2013




Eligibility of Maharashtra State Candidate and OMS candidate for appearing for MT-CET
2013 :
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed/appeared* the HSC (Std.XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Note :
1 Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying examination i.e. HSC (Std. XII) or its equivalent
examination during the academic year 2013-14and whose results are not declared till the last date of
submission of application form are eligible to appear for MT-CET 2013, however for admission to first
year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology, such candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria
as mentioned above.
2 Maharashtra State candidates (defined as per rule no. 3.1) and OMS candidates (defined as per rule no. 3.2) are eligible to appear for the MT-CET 2013conducted by the Competent Authority of
Government of Maharashtra for the academic year 2013-14.
3 Even though Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) candidates are eligible to appear for the MT-CET
2013, it is specifically made clear that such OMS candidates will not be able to participate in the
Centralized Admission Process on the basis of score in MT-CET 2013. These OMS candidates will
be able to apply for the admissions against the Institute Level Seats ONLY in the Unaided Private
Engineering Colleges/Institutes on the basis of score in MT-CET 2013.
4 The facility of Constitutional Reservation is not available for the OMS candidates. Therefore all OMS
candidates will be treated as OPEN/GENERAL category candidates in the entire admission
process.

Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra State Candidate and Outside Maharashtra State
Candidate for admission to first year of degree courses in Engineering/Technology:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
AND
Secured minimum 45% marks (minimum 40%marks in case of candidates of backward class
categories and Person with Disability belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at HSC (Std. XII)
AND
Obtained a non-zero score in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MTCET2013.
Note : Refer rule no 2.12 regarding Rounding off of percentage of marks for deciding the eligibility, if applicable.

Eligibility criteria for All India candidates (Paper -1 of JEE (Mains)-2013 qualified) : [Both the Maharashtra State Candidates and the OMS candidates]
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent
examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
AND
Secured minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% marks in case of candidates of backward class
categories and Person with Disability belonging only to Maharashtra State) in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics added together
AND
Candidate should have a valid Paper-1 of JEE (Mains) Score (i.e. total score should be positive) for
the year 2013-14.
Paper-1of JEE (Mains) 2013 qualified Maharashtra Candidates who have appeared for MT-CET
2013 will be required to submit single Application and Option form for CAP. Such Candidates will be
given single allotment through CAP as per their inter-se-merit.

Eligibility criteria for Foreign National/Foreign Student/ PIO/Children of Indian workers in the Gulf Countries/Children of NRI
Candidate should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of
Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English,
Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 45% marks in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
1 The eligibility of the candidates passing the HSC (Std. XII) equivalent examination from a school/college/Examination Board situate outside India shall be further decided by the University Authorities to which the candidate is admitted. Hence such candidates are advised to get their eligibility verified by the respective University Authorities before seeking admission to the Engineering/Technology
degree courses in the State of Maharashtra.
2 The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear for the MT-CET 2013

Eligibility criteria for GOI nominees:
Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination
with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and secured minimum 45% marks
(minimum 40% marks in case of candidates of Backward class categories) in the subjects Physics,
Chemistry and Mathematics added together. The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear for the MT-CET 2013.

Eligibility criteria for J & K Migrant candidates:
1. Candidate should be an Indian National and should have passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of
Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination
with subjects English, Physics, Chemi6stry and Mathematics and secured minimum 45% marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together.
2. The candidate belonging to this type is not required to appear for the MT-CET 2013.
Note : Refer rule no 2.12 regarding Rounding off of percentage of marks for deciding the eligibility, if applicable.

Eligibility criteria for MKB candidates :
In addition to the basic eligibility criteria mentioned in rule no. 2.2, candidates who have appeared &
obtained a non-zero score in the MT-CET 2013 and belonging to the Maharashtra Karnataka
Disputed Border Area are required to fulfill following additional eligibility criteria’s.
1. Candidates have to be from such villages/towns, from the Maharashtra Karnataka disputed
border areas, on which Maharashtra puts its claim (Refer Website).
2. The candidate should produce the certificate that his/her father/mother/candidate
himself/herself is a domicile of Karnataka in the disputed border area as specified in the
Proforma-G OR The candidate should produce the domicile certificate of his/her father/mother/candidate himself/herself stating that he/she is a resident of a Districts, Talukas
and villages included under MKB. (List of Districts, Talukas and villages included under MKB are
available at website of DTE. i.e., www.dte.org.in)
3. The candidate should have passed SSC (or equivalent) and/or HSC (or equivalent) from an
Institution situate in the disputed border area. The candidate must produce a certificate from the
Principal/Head Master of the College/School stating that the candidate has passed SSC/HSC (or
equivalent) Examination from that Institution.
4. Mother tongue of the candidate must be Marathi. The candidate must produce a certificate from
the Principal/Head Master of the School from which he/she has passed the SSC (or equivalent)
Examination, stating that the candidate’s Mother tongue is Marathi as per the original School record.
5. Candidate should have passed SSC or HSC (or equivalent) Examination with Marathi as one of
the subject.

Eligibility criteria for Candidates who are sons/daughters of Defence service personnel:
In addition to the basic eligibility criteria mentioned in rule no.2.2, candidates who have appeared &
obtained a non-zero score in the MT-CET 2013and satisfying any one of the following criteria are
eligible to seek admission against seats for sons/daughters of defence service personnel.
1.Candidate is a son/daughter of ex-service personnel who is domiciled in Maharashtra State (Def-1).
2. Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel who is domiciled in Maharashtra State (Def-2).
3. Candidate is a son/daughter of active service personnel (Def -3)
4. Who is transferred to Maharashtra State but is not domiciled in Maharashtra State
5. Who is not domiciled in Maharashtra State but his/her family is stationed in Maharashtra State under the provision of retention of family accommodation at the last duty station on the grounds of children’s’ education, provided further that, such candidate should have appeared and passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination from a school/college situate in the State of Maharashtra.
Note : This provision is not available to the children of Civillian Staff who is working/ who has worked with the Indian Defence Services. Refer rule no 2.12 regarding Rounding off of percentage of marks for deciding the eligibility, if applicable.

Eligibility criteria for Person with Disability Candidates :
In addition to the basic qualification mentioned in rule no. 2.2, candidate who has appeared &
obtained a non-zero score in the MT-CET 2013and suffering from any one of the following
permanent disability is eligible to seek admission against seats for Person with Disability candidates
[only Maharashtra State candidates (Type A, B and D) are eligible to apply for admission
against these seats]
1. Candidate who is visually impaired (blind) candidate (type P1)
2. Candidate who is speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb) candidate (type P2)
3. Candidate who is with orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia,
Dysgraphia, Spastic (type P3)
Note: The certificate (Proforma F/F-1) should clearly state that the extent of disability is more than 40% and the disability is permanent in nature. Refer rule no 2.12 regarding Rounding off of percentage of marks for deciding the eligibility, if applicable.

Other eligibility criteria for specialized branches of Engineering :
Candidates seeking admission to some special courses or under some special provisions have to fulfill the following additional eligibility criteria.
1. Admission to Bio- Medical Engineering course :
Candidates seeking admission to Biomedical Engineering course should have passed in the
subject of Biology in the qualifying examination in addition to fulfilling the Eligibility criteria as
mentioned in rule no. 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3.
2 Admission to Bio-Technology Engineering course :
Candidates seeking admission to Bio-Technology Engineering course should have passed in the
subject of Biology or Biotechnology in the qualifying examination in addition to fulfilling the
Eligibility criteria as mentioned in rule no. 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3.
3 Admission to Aeronautical Engineering*
Candidates who are suffering from Colour blindness are not eligible for admission to Aeronautical
Engineering course.
4 Admission to Mining Engineering course:
Female candidates are not eligible for admission to Mining Engineering course.

Eligibility criteria for Candidates who have passed Diploma in Engineering/Technology
and seeking admission to First Year of Engineering/Technology in Unaided Institutes:
Diploma holders who have passed the Diploma course in Engineering/Technology with minimum of
50% marks in aggregate and medium of instruction as English from the Polytechnics affiliated to
MSBTE or AICTE approved autonomous Polytechnics in Maharashtra State ( for Maharashtra State
Candidates) or such polytechnics situate inside/outside the State of Maharashtra ( for Outside
Maharashtra State Candidates).
Note :
1. To resolve a tie i.e. more than one candidate securing equal aggregate marks in Final year of the
Diploma exam, following order of preference shall be adopted: marks in Maths at SSC, Grand
Total at SSC.
2. Eligible Diploma candidates (rule 2.11) shall be considered for Admission against the Institute
level seats in Unaided Private Institutes only. The details of the admission process for filling
application for admission against institute level seats shall be made available in the separate
information brochure.
3. Diploma candidates (rule 2.11) are not eligible to appear for the MT-CET 2013.

MT CET Seats Reservations 2013




All the reservations given below shall be applicable to candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only subject to the fulfillment of the eligibility criteria specified by respective authorities from time to time.

Reservation for Backward Class category Candidates :
The percentage of seats reserved for candidates of backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra State is as per the details in table given below. The percentages of reservation are the percentages of the seats available for Maharashtra candidates, which are coming under the purview of the Competent Authority (Refer notes 1-5 given below for details). These are the minimum percentages of reservation exclusive of the backward class candidates securing allotment through General Merit by virtue of merit. Backward class candidates shall claim the category to which they belong to at the time of submission of application form for Centralized Admission.

Note :
  1. The reservation for backward class candidates shall be available in Government, Government Aided Institutes, University Dept. and University Managed Institutes and Unaided Non-Minority colleges and it will be 50% of Maharashtra State CAP seats.
  2. Candidates belonging to Special Backward Class (SBC) will be offered reservation up to 2% seats of the seats available for Maharashtra candidates which are coming under the purview of theCompetent Authority subject to condition that any seats remain vacant in the reserved category at the end of stage–I of allotment. These seats are carved out during the allotment stage-I and no separate seats are earmarked before the start of the allotment process. SBC Candidates having original category OBC will be considered at par with OBC Candidates.
  3. The candidates belonging to SC, ST, VJ/DT (NT (A) ), NT(B), NT(C), NT(D), OBC and SBC categories should produce “Caste/Tribe Validity Certificate” issued by Scrutiny Committee of Social Welfare Department/Tribal Development Department at the time of submission of CAP application form for the Admission.
  4. Even if the candidate belonging to Backward Class Category secures admission against a seat belonging to the General category by virtue of merit, such candidate has to produce all the necessary documents in support of the category claimed both at the time of admission and while filling up of the CAP admission form.
  5. All OMS candidates are treated as GENERAL/OPEN candidates and are not eligible to claim reservation for backward class category candidate.
Reservation for sons/daughters of Defence service personnel :
5 % seats of the total sanctioned intake for an institute, subject to a maximum of 5 seats in each institute coming under CAP shall be reserved for
a)Children of ex- service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra State (DEF-1).
b)Children of active service personnel who are domiciled in Maharashtra State (DEF-2).
c)Children of active service personnel (DEF-3)
    (i) Who are transferred to Maharashtra State but are not domiciled in Maharashtra State,
    (ii) Who are not domiciled in Maharashtra State but their families are stationed in Maharashtra
State under the provision of retention of family accommodation at the last duty station on
grounds of children¡¦s education provided further that, such candidate should have appeared
and passed the HSC (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and
Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination from a school/college situate in
the State of Maharashtra.
These seats are within the sanctioned intake capacity and are available as State Level seats. A
combined single merit list of all eligible DEF1, DEF2 & DEF3 candidates shall be prepared. Admission against the Defence category seats will be made strictly on the basis of inter se merit of combined single merit list of all eligible DEF1, DEF2 & DEF3 candidates.

Note : This provision is NOT available to the children of CIVILIAN STAFF who is working / who has worked in the Indian Defence Service.

Reservation for Person with Disability Candidates :
As per the provisions in Clause 39 of Equal Opportunities, Protection of Rights and Full Participation
Act 1995, three percent (3%) seats of total sanctioned intake capacity of all the institutions coming
under CAP shall be reserved for Person with Disability candidates.
  1. visually impaired (blind) candidates (P1)
  2. speech & hearing impaired (deaf & dumb) candidates, (P2)
  3. Orthopedic disorders, learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Spastic (P3) Allotment of the seats reserved for the Person with Disability candidates shall be done on the basis of a respective inter-se merit of respective category of such candidates. These seats are available in Home University area seats only except for those colleges for which the admissions are done at state level. The state level seats will only be made available for those colleges for which the admissions are done at state level. These seats are available only for Maharashtra Domiciled candidates.
Note : It should be noted that the Person with Disability candidates on admission to Engineering /Technology degree course will not be given any exemptions or additional facilities in the academic activities other than those which may be provided by the respective Universities. Further it is specifically brought to the notice of Person with Disability candidates that, they should submit the certificates strictly as per the Proforma.

Reservation for Female candidates :
As per the provisions in Govt. Resolution No. GEC-1000/ (123/2000)/ Tech. Edu.-1, dated 17th April,
2000, 30% seats available for Maharashtra State CAP shall be reserved for female candidates in all
the courses of the institutions coming under CAP. This reservation shall be applicable for General,
SC, ST, DT/VJ (NT-A), NT-B, NT-C, NT-D and OBC categories. Seats reserved for Female candidates are available under both the 70% Home University seatsand30%Other than Home University seats coming under the CAP. There shall be no reservation for Female candidates under Defence, Person with Disability and SBC categories.
Important : All such candidates who fail to substantiate claims made (such as reservation category, PH, Defence etc.) with supporting necessary documents shall be converted to GENERAL category and/or such applications will be rejected as the case may be. Once such candidates are converted to GENERAL category and they will have to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria as set out for a GENERAL category candidate.

Seats for the candidates belonging to the Maharashtra-Karnataka Border (disputed area) MS Type-E candidates :
These candidates will only be considered for Other than Home University (OHU)/ State Level (SL)
seats of Maharashtra State of CAP. These candidates will also be eligible for the seats remaining vacant in Un-aided Institutes after the CAP round and for additional round of Government, Government Aided, University Departments and University Managed Institutes.

MT CET Test Pattern 2013




The MT-CET 2013 will consist of three question papers. Each paper is of 100 marks.
Paper I : Physics & Chemistry (50 marks each)
Paper II : Biology (Botany & Zoology - 50 marks each)
Paper III: Mathematics (100 Marks)

There is no choice among the questions, i.e. all questions have to be answered. The candidate desirous of selection to Engineering/Technology degree courses should appear for Paper I and Paper III and the candidate desirous of selection to Pharmacy degree course should appear for Paper I & Paper-II and/or Paper-III. Those candidates appearing only for Paper I and Paper II will be provided with one single OMR answer sheet for both papers: those appearing only for Paper I and Paper III will be given separate OMR answer sheets with each question paper and those candidates appearing for all the three papers will be given one single OMR answer sheet for Paper I & Paper II and a separate OMR answer sheet for Paper III. At the end of paper/session student will handover the OMR Answer sheet and Question booklet to the invigilator.
  1. The candidate will be required to mark the correct answer by blackening the corresponding circle against the serial number of the question in the answer sheet with black ink ballpoint pen only. Out of four circles provided for selection of an answer against a question, the candidate should fill up one circle only. Each correct answer will be given mark/(s). There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
  2. Changing an answer is not allowed. The candidates must fully satisfy themselves about the accuracy of the answer before darkening the appropriate circle, as no change in the Answer once marked is allowed. The answer once marked is final; any change in the option once marked, done by any method, will amount to an invalid/incorrect response.
  3. Scratching, overwriting, tick mark and multiple answers will be considered as wrong answers and no marks will be allotted to them.
  4. Time & Duration of Examination - There will be three papers of one and half hours each. Schedule of examination is given on backside of index page.
  5. Language of Question Paper - The medium for examination shall be English or Marathi or Urdu for Physics, Chemistry and Biology. However, Mathematics paper shall be in English only. The option once exercised about the medium by the candidate shall be irrevocable.

MT CET Test Syllabus 2013




Syllabi of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics for the MT-CET 2013 will be the same as for the current year for HSC Examination (i.e. March 2013) of HSC Boards of Maharashtra.

MT CET Test Centers 2013



The MT-CET 2013 will be conducted at all the district headquarters of the State of Maharashtra.
The MT-CET examination center will be within the same district from where the candidate has passed / is appearing at the qualifying examination i.e. HSC/12th Standard examination. For the eligible candidates passing qualifying examination from outside the state of Maharashtra, the Competent Authority shall allot the examination center. The centre of examination for candidates who have passed their HSC (Std XII) or equivalent examination from an institution situated outside the state of Maharashtra shall be the district headquarter of the Notified College where he/she has submitted MT-CET 2013 Application Form.

Note : The center once allotted by the Competent Authority shall not be changed under any circumstances.

MT CET Admit Cards 2013

  1. The Admit Cards and Score Cards will be distributed by the Principal of the junior college or Notified College where the Application form was submitted by the candidate.
  2. In case the candidate does not receive Admit Card on or before the prescribed date (or if he/she has lost his/her admit card), he/she should approach the Notified College / Center In Charge of the District of the respective district with the original Receipt of Application Form for getting a Duplicate Admit Card not later than one hour before the commencement of the examination.
  3. Please note that the issue of Admit Card is just an enabling provision for appearing at MT-CET and does not imply that the candidate is eligible for admission.

MT CET Application Form 2013

Sale of Information Brochure.

  1. The information brochures as per the requirement shall be obtained by Head Master/Principal of the Junior College from the Principal/Director of the notified college in the district.
  2. The fee for MT-CET 2013 including Information Brochure along with Application Kit is . 700/-(Rupees Seven Hundred Only) for General category Candidates and . 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only) for Backward Class Category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only. This amount is not refundable.
  3. Information Brochure along with Application Kit for the aspiring Candidates will be available at their Junior Colleges against the payment of the application form fee for the candidates passed/appearing HSC from Maharashtra.
  4. Information Brochure along with Application Kit for the aspiring Candidates will be available at Notified Colleges against the payment of the application form fee for the candidates passed/appearing HSC from outside Maharashtra.
  5. It is mandatory for the Candidates to procure the Information Brochure along with Application Kit.
  6. The Application Kit contents the Application Kit Number and Password.
Online Submission of Application Form.
  1. Aspiring Candidates should read the Information Brochure thoroughly.
  2. The detailed instructions for filling the online application form are given in the Application Kit.
  3. Aspiring Candidates are required to fill the “Online Application Form” through the web site www.dte.org.in/mtcet2013 through Internet at home, cybercafé or at their junior colleges.
  4. Application sent by post/courier will not be accepted and such applications will be rejected without any communication.
  5. The Candidate will be able to login to the Online Admission System by using Application Kit Number and Password provided in the Application Kit.
  6.  The candidate should fill the data in the Online System, verify the data filled and confirm the application form.
  7. The candidate can edit the data till it is not confirmed by him/ her. After confirmation of Application form, Candidate is required to take two printouts of the Online Application Form for CET.
  8. Candidate/Parent shall sign both copies of the application form and submit to his/her Junior College or Notified College.
  9. Principal of his/her Junior College shall certify both the copies and issue one copy of printout to the candidate.
  10. It will be responsibility of the Head Master/Principal of High School/Junior College to verify and certify that the information provided in the application form by the candidate is correct.
  11. The certified Application Form shall be submitted by the Principal of High School/Junior College to the Director / Principal of the Notified College of the concerned District as shown in ‘Annexure-A’ on or before the last date prescribed.
  12. The Candidates, who have passed HSC or Equivalent examination from outside Maharashtra, shall submit application form at any of the Notified College. The candidate shall get Receipt, Admit Card and Score Card from the same Notified College. Such candidates shall produce relevant documents, in original, of a) photo identity b) SSC or equivalent examination mark sheet to the authority at the Notified College at the time of submission of duly signed Online Application Form in two copies.
  13. Incorrect/incomplete Application Form will be rejected.
  14. A Candidate shall submit only one Application Form. In case, the candidate submits more than one application form, he/she shall be disqualified. The Admit Cards and Score Cards will be distributed by the Principal of the junior college or Notified College where the Application form was submitted by the candidate.
  15. In case the candidate does not receive Admit Card on or before the prescribed date (or if he/she has lost his/her admit card), he/she should approach the Notified College / Center In Charge of the District of the respective district with the original Receipt of Application Form for getting a Duplicate Admit Card not later than one hour before the commencement of the examination.

  17. The candidate shall fill the information correctly however there will be provision for correction (if any) in data as per schedule at respective Notified College only. In such cases candidate has to submit the application with receipt issued by his/her Junior College.
Sale of information brochure and online submission of application form with late fee Information Brochure along with Application Kit shall be made available to all aspiring candidates at Notified Colleges only with late fee of . 250/- in addition to the fee for MT-CET 2013.
In such cases the candidates shall produce relevant documents, in original, of 
a) photo identity
b) SSC or equivalent examination mark sheet to the authority at the Notified College at the time
of submission of duly signed Online Application Form printout in two copies.
