Genetic Engineering, also known as genetic modification, is the process through which an organism’s genome is manipulated through biotechnology. In this process new DNA is inserted in the host genome by first isolating and copying the genetic material of interest using molecular cloning methods to generate a DNA sequence, or by synthesizing the DNA, and then inserting this construct into the host organism. Genetic engineering techniques have been applied in numerous fields including research, agriculture, industrial biotechnology, and medicine. Genetic Engineering studies the method in which traits and characteristics of an organism are transmitted through generations and the reasons which cause genetic disorders. The Genetic Engineering graduates get the opportunity to work in medical and pharmaceutical industries, agriculture industries, research and development to name a few.
