Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT) is an autonomous Engineering College affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technology University (VTU). The college, located in Bangalore is approved by the AICTE and offers several graduate and post-graduate programmes.
The college is situated on a 23 acre campus in Govindapura on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway. NMIT was established by Vinay Hegde, son of late Justice K. S. Hegde. The College has 10 major Departments – Computer Science, Information Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Civil, MBA, MCA and Basic Sciences.

What Does it Offer

NMIT offers Undergraduate Programmes (B.E) in all major engineering disciplines like Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Information Science and Engineering and Aeronautical Engineering.
Post Graduate Degree courses offered in the institute include M.Tech. in VLSI Design & Embedded System, M.Tech. in Thermal Power Engineering, M.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering, Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA).
Research Programmes are offered (M.Sc. Engineering/Ph.D) in the following disciplines – Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Management Studies, Mathematics and Chemistry.
The following Mysore University Ph.D programs are also offered at NMIT – Ph.D in Electronics, Ph.D in Computer Science, Ph.D in Mathematics and Ph.D in Management Studies.

Research and Grants

Some of the completed and ongoing researches at NMIT are:

• Detection of horizon in MAV images
• Computer Vision Based Horizon Detection from MAV Video and Estimation of Attitude from Horizon Vision
• Development of Video Processing Techniques for Removal of Image Perturbations
• Development of algorithms for fusion of multi sensor, multi spectral, multi focus imagery
• Modeling & Analysis of Fluid Behavior in Centrifugal Casting
• Numerical simulation of complex flows with Laminar to Turbulent Transition

All the cutting edge researches are funded by organizations like the Aeronautical Development Establishment, DRDO, Min of Defense, Govt. of India,
NMIT is also part of the STUDSAT Program. This program (STUDSAT – Student Satellite) is a small-satellite technology development program by Undergraduate students from seven major Technology Institutions from across India, under the guidance of ISRO.
The 23 acre campus has hostel facilities, a huge library and a Central Computing Facility with the following features – Internet Lab and Language & Multimedia Lab each containing 30 computer systems, Digital Library with 20 computer systems, Common Computing Lab with 52 computers, E-learning Servers, Cyberoam Firewall, 10 Mbps Leased Line(1:1) internet Connectivity and Campus Wide Networking.
